VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY DEDICATION
Vietnam Veterans are invited to attend the dedication of the Colorado Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway on May 27, 2004. The dedication ceremonies begin at 1000 hours near the helicopter in front of Gate 1 at Fort Carson. The principal speakers will be Mr. Peter C. Lemon, Medal of Honor winner in Vietnam, MG Robert Wilson, Commander of the 7th Infantry Division, and State Representative Marc Cloer. Representative Cloer spearheaded the Memorial effort by introducing House Joint Resolution 03-1043, which states in part:
Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty-fourth
General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein:
“ That the portion of State Highway 115 that runs along the west side
of Fort Carson, beginning at the southern El Paso County border and
continuing north to South Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs, shall be
named the “Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway” in honor of the men and
women who served in Vietnam.”
The ceremonies should last approximately 45 minutes. If it’s convenient, wear the Chapter shirt, hat or any other appropriate clothing that will identify you as a Vietnam Veteran.
