Minutes from January 2005 Chapter Meeting

President Bill Robie called the meeting to order at approximately 10:00 A. M. at VFW POST #1.

President Bill Robie asked all present to introduce themselves.

Vice President Jim McNamee spoke on the Cookies and Cider event at the VA Hospital and its success.

Vice President Jim McNamee spoke on models of Vietnam Aircraft for the Trailer.

The Proposed Minutes for the November 20, 2004 meeting were presented by Secretary Roger D. Patterson Moved to accept by Fred Lyssy; motion seconded by Lyle Borders. Approved.

Treasurer’s Report for December 10, 2004 was presented by Treasurer Roger D. Patterson. Motion to accept made by Fred Lyssy and seconded by Walt Winters. Approved

President Bill Robie spoke on the trailer and the need for help for Rick Beaver.

Rick Beaver spoke on the status of trailer and reported that the inside is close to being done.

He is working on the floor and at this time is planning to sand and seal it. The rear wall is not installed yet and he is waiting for the door. Further the trim along the ceiling is almost ready for installation with the floor being ready once the floor is sanded and sealed.

Lyle Borders moved to reimburse Rick for his expenses for the trailer and to pay the insurance for the trailer. Mike Law seconded the motion. Approved.

Vice President Jim McNamee spoke on the possibility of having the Trailer at Angle Fire for Memorial Day. The members present decided the Trailer most likely will not be ready this year.

President Bill Robie, after asking for any objections, stated the next meeting on February 19, 2005 at 10:00 A. M. will be a work day at the trailer in Golden with lunch at The Buffalo Rose. The Buffalo Rose will also act as a weather backup if the weather is bad. Check the Chapter Web site at www.vhparmc.org for the status on where we will meet on that day.

Ed Fickes spoke on the 091 Reunion in Greeley on February 19, 2005 starting at 5:30 P. M. with a dinner to follow at 8:00 P. M. Tickets for Dinner are $8.00. Contact Ed for details on the events that day.

President Bill Robie spoke on need for criteria for selecting locations to take the trailer.

Membership Chair Walt Winters was present to take dues and membership applications.

President Bill Robie addressed the need to get museum artifact items for the Helicopter War Museum to Vice President Jim McNamee so he can be selecting items for display.

President Bill Robie spoke on the status of obtaining a UH-1 for the Chapter.

Brian Foote stated that the 4th Quarter 2004 Newsletter due out at the end of January would be his last one as Editor. Members spontaneously nominated and voted Mike Law to be the new Newsletter Editor.

Brian Foote will continue on as Chapter Webmaster.

Based on input Brian Foote had received from member Bill Martin, who now lives in Illinois, a discussion followed on whether or not the Chapter should initiate Life Memberships. After considerable discussion a motion was made that the Chapter have Lifetime Membership for the cost of $ 250.00. The motion did not carry. After more discussion, a motion was made to form a committee to study the possibility of Chapter Life Memberships. Walt Winters accepted Chairmanship of that committee and report back to the membership.

President Bill Robie spoke on the VHPA Reunion in San Francisco this July 4th week. He alerted members that the Reunion with the ticketed functions are filling up fast and those planning on attending should register as soon as possible.

President Bill Robie raised the question of a social function. The membership decided on the Heritage Square Melodrama on March 18, 2005 (Friday before March meeting). Heritage Square is located in Golden. Everyone attending should plan on meeting in the Heritage Square bar at 5:30 P. M. All who plan to attend should contact President Bill Robie at 303-278-2862 to confirm attendance, ticket prices and the detailed arrangements.

President Bill Robie stated we would wait until February to decide on ordering the wooden helicopters and airplanes the Chapter plans to offer.

Rick Beaver moved to pay Brian Foote $163.95 for cost of the publication and postage for the 3rd Quarter Newsletter and annual fee for the Internet Service Provider (ISP) web site cost. Seconded by Walt Wise. Approved.

Meeting adjourned at approximately 12:00 P.M.
