SHADOW BOXES FOR HELICOPTER WAR MUSEUM
The effort to furnish the Helicopter War Museum has started with building and filling Shadow boxes with personal or unit memorabilia that will be displayed in the Museum. Initially, ten or twelve Shadow Boxes will be built and handed out about a week or two after our August 20 meeting to those who have expressed an interest in the project. We are hoping to have the Museum “ready” by the Pig Roast, which is planned for Saturday, September 10 at the VA Hospital in Denver. We would like to have a few boxes set up by then. The Museum will not be polished, but we would like to have a trial run by then.
The Shadow Boxes will be approximately 3 feet wide, 2 feet high, and 5 inches deep. They will be nice looking, with stained birch plywood on the sides, Plexiglas that slides out on the front and plywood on the back. The side of the back plywood that faces into the box will be painted either black or camouflage, but people can line it with a poncho liner, paper, or whatever they want. Pegboard is also an option for the back. Anyone interested in completing a Shadow Box can contact Jim McNamee for all the details.
