February Meeting

The February Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association (VHPA) will be held on February 16 at 1000 hours at VFW Post.9644, 2680 W. Hampden, Sheridan, Colorado 80110.

Ski Train – March Meeting

The March meeting of the Chapter will be held in conjunction with a spouse/significant other function on the 15^th of March (our regular meeting date). As a group we will be taking the Ski Train to Winter Park. The ticket rate is $44 per person (same as the senior rate). The train departs Denver at 7:15 and departs Winter Park at 4:15 (usually arriving in Denver around 6ish). Fred Lyssy has offered “free” lift tickets to all in the group who will be skiing. This is a beautiful trip – particularly with the winter scenery. For those not skiing there are other activities available – in addition to the scenery and people watching.

We need 20 to get the group rate above. Please notify Ed Fickes as to the number of people in your party and the number of lift tickets needed. This must to be done ASAP so that we can secure a block of tickets to assure seating together on the train. At Winter Park we will select an off – time to have our meeting and lunch. Most likely we will eat ala carte in a corner of the main base resort dining area. These details will be sent at a later date.

We do need a head count so the Chapter can guarantee a sufficient number of riders on the Ski Train to get the group rate.. Payment can be made in advance or on the train. Please notify Ed Fickes at vietvet6922@aol.com as to number in your party and number of ski passes needed i.e. Ed Fickes + 3 (2 lift tickets).

     To start to the new year of 2008, the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the VHPA will hold its first meeting  at the Rio Grande restaurant on 19 January.  The restaurant is located in Lonetree, Colorado in the southeast corner of C 470 and Yosemite (just west of I 25).  It is next to the theaters, just east of Mimi restaurant and behind Sweet Tomatoes.  From Lincoln turn east off Park Meadows Drive and take the first driveway to the left (north)—then the first driveway to the right (east) towards the theaters.  The entrance to Rio Grande is on the south side of the group of buildings behind Sweet Tomatoes. 

     We will hold our meeting from about 1000 hours until about 1200 hours.  After the meeting we will order drinks and food off the menu for lunch.  WIVES AND SIGNIFICANT OTHERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND FOR EITHER THE LUNCH OR BOTH THE MEETING AND LUNCH AS YOU PREFER.  If you have any questions contact either Ed Fickes at 970-352-7060 or Vietvet6922@aol.com    or Jim McNamee at 303-513-0619 or  hawk36101@msn.com.     

For those of you who haven’t already paid your 2008 chapter dues, you can give them to Jim McNamee or Ed Fickes at the meeting or mail them to Jim at 5 Summit Cedar Dr, Littleton, CO 80127.  Dues are $20 per year.
